Winter Woodland scene from near Malham, North Yorkshire.
I’m Al Taylor with a passion for being outdoors. My interest in nature and the landscape around us all, was instilled at a young age, whilst I was very quietly (and not so quietly sometimes!) fishing that I would notice small creatures that would run quickly by. Family walks would often take us into the local woodland, where I recall being sat on my fathers shoulders and witnessing a small stout like creature cross the path behind us. Reading magazines and watching nature documentaries made me want to see more wildlife, than I would get to see in the back garden or the riverbank. It wasn’t until I was in my twenties that I saw a wild deer! It was during these fishing trips that I started to view the landscape differently, from wonderful fog inversions, glorious red skies and tremendous thunderstorms (not good when you holding 12ft of carbon fibre!) Sadly I could never really capture these scene’s with my then camera and when my brother gifted me a DLSR in 2012, I was finally able to begin my journey into photography.
I’ve been getting out and about to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of wonderful landscapes, along with the wildlife that can be found within them, which gives me a creative fix, which is not found in my normal 9-5 job. Being out in nature is very relaxing and certainly a boost to ones mental health and when I’m lucky enough to spend some time in the company of wildlife, I get a wonderful buzz of enjoyment of watching them going about their daily lives.
The photographs within my portfolio are some of my favourites shots that I’ve enjoyed taking with fond memories of the moments captured.
